LIMA, Peru – October 27, 2025. The SIMPOSIO – XVI International Mining Meeting, organized by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum, and Energy (SNMPE), is established as the private sector’s premier gathering for analyzing the challenges and opportunities facing Peruvian mining. Within a global context marked by political and economic volatility, this event reaffirms its relevance as a key space for shaping the national mining agenda and its contribution to the country’s sustainable development. Through open and constructive debate, the SIMPOSIO connects the mining industry with Peru’s present and future, driving innovation, development, competitiveness, and dialogue among diverse stakeholders.

Under the theme “Mining that integrates, builds the present, and transforms the future,” the SIMPOSIO highlights the role of formal and responsible mining as an essential driver of national development. This gathering emphasizes how mining can create synergies with sectors such as agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, and commerce, driving a more diversified and inclusive economy. In a country where mining potential is currently key to sustainable growth, the SIMPOSIO invites reflection and concrete proposals regarding an industry that integrates, creates opportunities, and positions us as key global players.

“Peru is currently a global player. We possess critical minerals, such as copper, that the world needs for the energy transition and new technologies. This is a unique opportunity to position ourselves globally and demonstrate how formal, responsible, and sustainable mining can be an active part of the solutions Peru needs,” stated Diego Ortega, Chair of the XVI SIMPOSIO.
The international meeting will take place from May 26 to 28, 2026, at the JW Marriott Hotel (Lima) and will bring together representatives from the industry, regional governments, academia, the banking sector, and the international community. Throughout its sessions, investment, sustainability, innovation, governance, and inclusion will be addressed with the participation of global leaders, who will provide an international perspective on the trends, challenges, and opportunities that will help define the new agenda for Peruvian mining.

The SIMPOSIO, held every two years, has established itself as a high-level dialogue platform that sets the agenda regarding cutting-edge and relevant discussions for the industry. It reaffirms the role of mining as a driver of development and as the sector that integrates the country, contributing to the world’s energy and economic future.
