In this context, copper is a critical and indispensable mineral for the global energy transition. Therefore, in collaboration with the British Geological Survey (BGS), we have analyzed the territory&#8217;s potential and resources, identifying systematic evidence to promote sustainable land use and recognize opportunities for economic development beyond mining,&#8221; Dobson stated during her presentation.<\/p>\r\n<p>Flor Pinares, Mining and Energy Manager at the British Embassy, explained that the British Geological Survey (BGS) study provides geoscientific evidence to support the planning of the northern territorial development corridor. This initiative adopts a comprehensive approach that considers resources, risks, water, climate, infrastructure, and social dynamics.<br \/>The proposal aims to connect Cajamarca and Lambayeque through shared infrastructure and related services, with a vision that integrates various economic sectors within the region. Pinares noted that the study identified opportunities to enhance infrastructure, diversify the economy, improve water security, and mobilize investment through public-private partnerships and multilateral financing.<\/p>\r\n<p>She also highlighted that challenges remain in areas such as governance, resource allocation, social trust, illegal mining, and infrastructure and connectivity gaps. &#8220;Infrastructure must align with territorial logic and address the shared needs of mining, agriculture, services, and communities,&#8221; Pinares emphasized.<\/p>\r\n<p>Subsequently, a panel of experts convened to address the identified issues. Luis Miguel Inch\u00e1ustegui, Director of Social and Corporate Affairs at Pan American Silver Peru, emphasized that Cajamarca possesses deposits with significant potential; however, he cautioned that without synergistic development that minimizes environmental impact and enhances contributions to the region, &#8220;it will be difficult to consolidate world-class projects while simultaneously closing social gaps.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<p>Ricardo Lab\u00f3, Senior Mining Specialist at the World Bank Group, remarked that &#8220;the World Bank has already allocated technical assistance resources to support the Government of Peru during this phase.
