Rohitesh Dhawan will lead the session on responsible production of minerals and sustainability.<\/h4>\n\n

The National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE) announced the participation of Rohitesh Dhawan, President and CEO of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), at the SIMPOSIO – XV International Mining Meeting, to be held from May 21 to 23 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Lima.<\/p>\n\n

The representative of the aforementioned institution will conduct the session “How responsible production of minerals may generate trust and other positive impacts”, which will be held on May 22, the second day of the XV SIMPOSIO.<\/p>\n\n

Rohitesh “Ro” Dhawan holds a Master\u2019s degree in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Rhodes University in South Africa. He also leads the Council of 24 CEOs of the world’s largest mining and metals companies in voluntary leadership actions raising the standards of responsible mining.<\/p>\n\n

The ICMM is made up of companies from the industry and regional and raw materials associations with the purpose of strengthening the environmental and social performance of the mining sector and its contribution to society. It also promotes state-of-the-art environmental practices to improve the performance of the whole industry.<\/p>\n\n

Thanks to Dhawan’s leadership, the institution has engaged in important commitments on sustainable development matters, including the industry’s first commitment towards net zero greenhouse gas emissions, ground-breaking actions on diversity, equality and inclusion, and significant steps towards transparency in the industry’s contributions and performance, including tax and contract disclosures.<\/p>\n\n
