Human Rights Defender at the Management Committee of the Pintuyacu, Chambira and Alto Nanay Regional Conservation Area
A human rights and Amazon rainforest advocate for the Amazon region, she has been committed since her youth to defending the land and natural resources on which she continues to depend for her livelihood to this day. from 2014 to 2016, she served as vice president of the executive committee of the ACR Alto Nanay Pintuyacu Chambira Management Committee, supporting the management and defense of the area against the proliferation of illegal activities; since 2016, she has been part of the Community Control and Surveillance groups, carrying out monitoring activities of the territory and the forest in the Pintuyacu basin – Nanay. From 2021 to 2026, she has faced threats from illegal miners who have tried to intimidate her; she has requested that her case be included in the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights’ (MINJUSDH) risk registry. Her most recent leadership role was from 2024 to 2026, when she once again served as vice president of the Management Committee of the Alto Nanay Pintuyacu Chambira ACR, from which she has promoted concrete actions against illegal mining, illegal logging, and other activities that have been affecting the forests of the Nanay basin. She still holds out hope that the Peruvian government will honor its commitment to the Nanay and stop reaching out to take its cut from the destruction.
